Veigné

Ancient priory of the abbey of Cormery, at around 10 km of Tours, Veigné is doted, like all the other villages of the Val de l’Indre, of a rich and green architectural heritage.
On the slope which edged  the river, you can discover while your walking, castles, manors nestled in the nature.
Veigné is dominated by the grand moulin, well restored, which wheel can be seen from the outside and which nowadays welcome several associations…

> Château de la Belle Jonchère
16thC manor house.

> Château de Couzières
The two towers are all that remain of the 15C fortress, while the main building dates from the early 17C. It was in this château in 1619 that Marie de Medicis was reconciled with her son, Louis the XIIIth, in the presence of the Cardinal de Richelieu.

> Eglise Saint-Maixent
A church with a bell tower and part of the choir which date from the 12C. 19C stained glass windows by Lobin.

Old priory adjoining the church to the north; the Croix Matthieu (a cross on the corner of the rue de la Martinière and the rue de l’Egalité); and the Opéra district (15C-17C houses in rue de l’Egalité). Listed historical monument.
