Beside the GR3 and GR46 which cross the territory, there are 280 km of walking trail, organized in 19 walking itineraries. The trails have been renovated recently and equipped (signs, picnic area, footbridges. etc). The maps of the trails, approved by the Comité Départementale de Randonnée, are on sale at 4€ the case.

The trail « la vallée de l’Echandon » in Esvres (9,5 km) has been branded By the Conseil Général d'Indre-et-Loire (« Label Balade en Touraine »). It has been specially chosen on these requirements: architectural and environmental wealth, accessibility to the biggest number and particularly for the families, well-manicured signs, offer of services nearby (accommodation, restaurant).

Each year The Tourist Office of the Val de l’Indre organize a walking theme festival (with several animations, see the program), with the support of the local clubs:
• Les Amis de la Nature de Saint-Branchs • Les Balades Esvriennes • Les Escargots de Touraine (Veigné) • La Randonnée Montoise • Les Sentiers du Lys (Artannes) • Les Sentiers Montbazonnais • L’Union Cyclo-Touriste de Veigné • La Fédération Française de Randonnée (comité d’Indre-et-Loire)

The Val de l’Indre is also an important stop on the way to Tours for the Saint-James of Compostella pilgrim.
